My name is Amrit Budathoki and I am 14 years old. I am from a village in Gorkha district where I live with my father Mr. Min Bahadur Budathoki, my mother who is an asthma patient and my younger sister who used to go to school with me till I discovered that I wasn’t in good health. My parents who are farmers are the only working members in my family who earn about Rs2000/- to Rs4000/- a month which is barely enough for us to sustain. My family already suffers enough hardships in regards to financial matter, as Rs3000/- per month is required for my mother’s medications.
About 5-6 months ago, I came home one evening after a nice game of football with my friends, had my dinner and went off to sleep. It was just another normal night however with a slight difference, I fainted in my sleep, as that is what my mother told me. Worried that I was suffering from a serious disease she took me to the Bharatpur Hospital where various check-ups confirmed that I was a cardiovascular patient. But due to insufficient money for my treatment, we had to discontinue it at that time. Luckily, I heard of a heart camp being organized in Pokhara on December 2015. Upon my visit, one of my relatives heard about Jayanti Memorial Trust and its services to the unfortunate cardiac patients. I was advised surgery and given a date and for this my parents took a loan of Rs15000/- from the local villagers.I was later admitted at Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Tranpslant Center (MCVTC) and underwent several tests and treatments related to heart diseases.
After my treatment, I want to continue and complete my education and get a good job so that I can provide a satisfactory life for my family.
